Java Jane Designs

Hello, I’m Andie! I’m a full-time photographer (architecture and portraits), typography fanatic, designer, fabric collector, compulsive organizer, dreamer, and coffee enthusiast. If a genie could bestow some magical talents upon me, I’d be a tap dancer! Or a singer. I could eat tacos every single day. Gray IS a color – and it is my favorite 🙂

Aside from the above, I am the creator of Alphabet Photo Artâ„¢ ~ I create elegant custom artwork honoring and celebrating your biggest moments in life. When I first shared my whimsical custom alphabet photography, I immediately made a sale half-way around the globe, a name frame for a sweet baby girl named Madeleine, and I knew I was on to something special! The joy of creating something that others will treasure is what inspires me most. Whether I’m designing a couple’s new last name for their wedding day, a birth date print for a new baby, or a housewarming welcome gift, each keepsake is thoughtfully handcrafted by me with the recipient in mind.

I’ve always loved architecture, typography, and photography. I am equally drawn to elements that are rusty and weathered and those that are delicate and ornate. In particular, church architecture and forgotten downtown buildings tend to capture my imagination. Over the past several years, I’ve created my own ‘architecture font’ through the simplicity of black and white photographs.

Each piece of artwork is handcrafted by me in my Michigan studio. I am a staff of one and will work with you from start to finish, from your first email to your first design…I photograph, frame, package, and everything else in between…from my hands to your home. I travel all over and photograph everywhere I go. I like trees, a lot, so I utilize recycled packaging materials when I can and purchase quality frames from family-owned businesses who use sustainable wood and strive to reduce energy consumption and hazardous waste.

Where does the name ‘Java Jane’ come from? It is my coffee junkie alter ego and an homage to the ‘drink from the gods’ and the one who gave my my first sip at age two: my dear beautiful grandma who is herself an artist, business owner, and dreamer. And yes, the coffee probably stunted my growth 🙂

GIVEAWAY
Perpetual Calendar Daily Journal (Retail Value $42)

javajane

The Perpetual Calendar Journal Box includes daily journal cards printed on recycled paper to record life’s big (and small) moments. Cards are designed to be used for up to 5 years.

Such a lovely and simple idea ~ each day you record on one line what happened that day: daily menu planner, food journal, baby’s firsts, big news, a new idea, what made your heart sing. Flip the card over for the next day, then file it in the back of the box. Continue this each year; as the years go by you will have a wonderful history of what you did on that day for the past 5 years. Such a beautiful and minimalistic way to keep your memories!

Small and compact so it doesn’t take up a lot of room, our wooden box measures 3.5×4.5. Choose your ribbon color from the sampler above. Features my original photography on 12 monthly dividers printed on archival matte finish photo paper and heavy double-sided journal cards. A metal card holder on the front includes a blank card. Packaged in a burlap pouch for easy gift-giving (we are happy to eliminate the burlap if you are sensitive to strong smells).

  20. Angela says:

My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s about 10 years ago, right after my grandfather passed. Since then she has thrown away her wedding picture of the two of them, among other things, because she couldn’t remember who the people in the picture were (luckily we found it and saved it). That has given me a bigger focus in my life to concentrate on the important things, even if they are small. I like to keep pictures and journal, but now I realize the importance of keeping the two together, to remember those things daily. Life is so precious.
